If you have never heard of Kindle Vella, don’t worry. You’re not alone. Kindle Vella was just launched in July of this past year, so it is definitely still new.

Let’s break down what is special about Kindle Vella.

What Exactly IS Kindle Vella?

Kindle Vella is a new serialized reading platform in which books are released one chapter at a time. Readers can choose to follow authors’ stories and read each chapter, or “episode,” as soon as it is posted!

Think of it like a TV series where a new episode premieres, and you can watch it one by one, or binge watch the entire thing (since several authors already have their full books available!)

How Do Readers USE Kindle Vella?

You can use the Kindle app or go straight to Amazon’s website to search through Kindle Vella books. Readers can enjoy the episodes for each book right on their phones or laptop. No subscription necessary!

I’m Still Me is LIVE on Kindle Vella!

I have just released Episode 3 for my latest work, I’m Still Me, which is a romance/medical drama about a 20-something who is newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. (Yes, it is loosely based on my life!)

She learns how to live with this new invisible illness as well as acknowledge who from her life is going to support her on this journey and who… may not serve a purpose in her life anymore.

How MUCH Does it Cost to Read on Kindle Vella?

This is the best part – The first three episodes of any book are FREE to read, and you can read from as many authors as you want!

After three episodes, you need to have “tokens” to read additional episodes. You can claim your first 200 tokens for free (which is the equivalent of about eight episodes). After that, it does cost money.

How much exactly? Not too much! Those 200 tokens you just got for free are only $1.99. You can also choose to purchase more tokens all at once such as 1,100 for only $9.99, which would be enough to (on average) read about two full stories.
