Music has always been a huge part of my life, and believe it or not, when I was in junior high, I actually wanted to be a singer when I grew up!
Of course, while this aspiration did not lead to a job in the music business (unless you count singing with Kindergarteners for ten years during music class), I was able to write some poetry and songs.
While I still love singing whenever possible, my creative side leans more heavily toward story-writing.
After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, I felt I should share some music that continues to motivate me on a daily basis. Perhaps, you are going through the journey of living with an invisible illness, too. Or perhaps you know someone living with an invisible illness. Or maybe you are just having a tough time.
Whatever your reason, music helps us heal.
I hope you find as much inspiration as I have from these songs.
Top Inspirational Songs
These songs remind us how strong we are if we look deep enough. Life has a way of throwing some nasty curveballs, but we can always come back stronger.
Yes, the songs listed on this page are meant to be inspiring for anyone who reads this, listens to the song, hears the message behind the lyrics…
But these are also MY songs. These are the songs that reminded me to stand up again every time multiple sclerosis knocked me down.
These are what I consider theme songs for multiple sclerosis.
Multiple Sclerosis Theme Songs
If there were to be a soundtrack for MS, these songs should make the cut.
Track 1. Through the Rain – Mariah Carey
The lyrics:
I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again
On my own and I know
That I’m strong enough to mend…
Track 2. Fight Song – Rachel Platten
The lyrics:

And all those things I didn’t say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time?
This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I’m alright song…
Track 3. Stronger – Sara Evans
The lyrics:
Woke up late today and I still feel the sting of the pain
But I brushed my teeth anyway
I got dressed through the mess and put a smile on my faceI
Got a little bit stronger…
Track 4. Little Talks – Of Monsters and Men
The lyrics:
The stairs creak as I sleep
It’s keeping me awake
It’s the house telling you to close your eyes
And some days I can’t even dress myself
It’s killing me to see you this way…
Track 5. Rise Up – Andra Day
The lyrics:
When the silence isn’t quiet
And it feels like it’s getting hard to breathe
And I know you feel like dying
But I promise we’ll take the world to its feet…
Track 6. Keep Your Head Up – Andy Grammar
The lyrics:
I got my hands in my pockets, kicking these rocks
It’s kinda hard to watch this life go by
I’m buying into skeptics
Skeptics mess with the confidence in my eyes
I’m seeing all the angles, thoughts get tangled
I start to compromise my life and my purpose
Is it all worth it?
Am I gonna turn out fine?
Track 7. Fix You – Coldplay
The lyrics:
And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something, you can’t replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Like the title says, I hope these songs inspire everyone living with MS along with anyone else. We all need a little inspiration sometimes.
